About Mike

Mike Harris, 38, was born in Portsmouth and has lived around the Portsmouth area all his life. He is a solitary practising wiccan. He has studied the tarot for many years, witches runes and practices an assortment of candle and moon magick.

Since a young child he has been aware of “people” around him that no one else could see. As a child, his parents dismissed this behaviour as eccentric childhood imagination assuming he would grow out of it... 34 years on and Mike still has the same spiritual experiences.

Mike`s earliest memorable experience happened on 28 December 1984. Mike was 13 at the time. He awoke about 4am to see his Grandad sitting at the end of his bed. The next morning, his father informed him that his Grandad has passed away during the night. four of Mike`s other relatives experienced the same thing. This intriguing and other unexplainable events led Mike to have a keen interest in the world of paranormal researching. It was one thing to be able to see and sense spirits but his goal became to find actual evidence which could scientifically prove the existence of paranormal phenomena.

From as young as 13, Mike started researching paranormal happenings and detection methods. In 1989, Mike had progressed to investigating supposedly haunted locations with a group of friends in and around the Old Portsmouth area.

Mike joined The Ghost Club in 1991 and under that affiliation travelled the country investigating many notorious haunted locations and private homes. He has given numerous radio interviews on the subject and made several TV appearances on BBC and ITV. He has also written articles and his expertise on the subject has been sought by many organisations including Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils.

Over the past 20 years, Mike has been involved with numerous paranormal groups and is currently working with a Basingstoke based group called GhostVigils. Mike has been on over 500 investigations over the years, his favourite locations being Michelham Priory, Woodchester Mansions, Highcliffe Castle and Netley Abbey. Mike takes paranormal investigating very seriously and puts a strong emphasis on scientific research. Any happenings or unexplained events are put under deep scrutiny. Considering his extensive experience, Mike has only ever witnessed a full apparition on two occasions. The first was at Victoria Country Park, Southampton in 2004. A misty grey form of a woman in 1900s nurses attire appeared before the small group. She was around 5”6`. She appeared for around 2 minutes then faded away. The second occasion was in October 2007. It was at Woodchester Mansions around 5am. Mike was with a colleague when at the end of a corridor an apparition, which looked like a woman servant, appeared, looked at them and walked into the kitchen. The incident lasted around 30 seconds.

More recently Mike has investigated an unsolved murder which took place in the 1950s. Using his psychic ability, Mike uncovered several previously unknown facts which were relayed to him by the dead victim. Information he provided has since been confirmed to be correct.

Mike is one of the most gifted mediums of our time. Personal readings for GhostVigils members have been stunningly accurate. One of Mike`s attributes is that he will never compromise his integrity or abuse his talents. He has a keen interest in architectural history, particularly ecclesiastical and is in the process of writing books based on the history of the Cistercian Order in Britain and also The History of Portsmouth and it's many notable buildings.

Mike is looking forward to a busy year ahead. He has many paranormal projects and investigations planned for the coming months including many new locations he has not previously visited including The Fallstaff Experience, The Explosion Museum, Gosport and The Ancient Ram Inn. In July he participated in a Charity event in conjunction with GhostVigils for Basingstoke Football Club.
